  • 45 year career with more than 30 years leading teams of Architects and Consulting Engineers resulting in an in-depth understanding of proven leadership and management of complex design and construction projects.

 

  • Extensive experience in project initiation and leadership assuring that the project operates in a collaborative and efficient environment.

 

  • Demonstrated success in the development, measurement and improvement of design firms internal processes.

 

  • Leadership as a Senior Architect and Senior Project Manager on projects ranging from routine commercial and government commissions up to new NFL stadia with project values ranging from $200,000 up to $500 million in construction cost.

 

  • Managed six noteworthy projects in the last 10 years successfully using the Design-Build delivery method.

 

  • Key positions held included 10 years as a Principal with AECOM � Holmes & Narver (Albuquerque Division) and more than 20 years as an Architect, Principal and Senior Project Manager with HOK Sport/Populous.

Project Leadership

 

Led numerous noteworthy design planning & construction projects with a total project value well over $5 billion (in 2011 dollars) including:

 

  • 5 new NFL stadia (Jacksonville, Tampa, Cleveland, New England and Arizona)

 

  • Commercial projects including office & retail

 

  • Several NBA/NHL arena projects

Firm leadership
 
Developed the first schedule, fee and project performance tracking program for HOK Sport/Populous. The program and process allowed tracking of fees, man hours, % complete and deliverable management.

 

Chaired the HOK Sport/Populous Project Managers roundtable from 1995 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2005.

 

Founding member of the HOK Sport/Populous Professional Services Committee responsible for establishing leadership guidelines and processes for the practice throughout the US.
 
Worked with HOK-Group headquarters in St. Louis to develop consistent project leadership, risk assessment and financial approaches to large, complex projects.
 
Authored the HOK Sport/Populous whitepaper on contract and fee negotiations. Then went on to assist other project teams in the early scope development, consultant selection, terms and conditions negotiations and fee establishment for numerous large and complex projects totaling over $2 billion in construction value.

 

 

Staff development

 

Established and co-chaired the HOK Sport/Populous knowledge transfer team (ASSET) from 2005 to 2008. Working with a diverse group of staff, developed a measurable process for the training of newer or younger staff.

 

Launched a CE tracking system and worked with staff to convey what skill and training they needed to meet their individual career goals and competencies.

 

For over 15 years served as a committee member responsible for developing and executing policies for performance reviews, promotions, salary adjustments and offering corrective performance measures to underperforming staff when required.
